Fall in Broken Bow

Ben and I went to Broken Bow.  Again.  We've decided we want to eventually visit every month to see which month we like the best, so we figured we'd try October next! We did a few new things this trip which was fun.

We're here!

When Ann went to Broken Bow on a girls' trip, she posted a really cute picture at a waterfall I did not know about.  I found the .80 mile hike online and we decided to check it out before we went to our cabin.  Thanks Ann!

We parked at a nearby golf course and walked to the trailhead which extended our hike a bit.

We had to cross over a creek.

We made it to the waterfall.  The area had gotten quite a bit of rain before our trip so I thought it would really be flowing, but it was just a small trickle.  It was still worth doing though and a fun way to start our vacation.

Back to the car we go to head to the cabin.

We picked a beautiful cabin called Evergreen Dreams.  It's my favorite cabin we've stayed in so far.

By the far the best patio we've had yet!

On Saturday night in Broken Bow, it's really crowded everywhere so I made a reservation at a restaurant so Ben wouldn't have to cook on the first night.  We ate out on their big patio and enjoyed our meal.

Let the vacation begin!

Back at the cabin, we walked off some of our dinner and saw what we could of the sunset.

Then it was time to hit the hot tub!

The next morning as I had my tea, I could see the sunrise through the window.

Today was Sunday and our plan was to hike our favorite trail, get our favorite pizza and watch the Cowboy game from the hot tub, which sounded like the perfect Sunday to me!

We got to the trail about 8:30 a.m. and were on our way for our 1.5 mile hike.

We never get tired of this trail or this view!

When we got to the waterfall, there was one family there and the lady offered to take our picture so Ben and I got the rare picture together!

The beautiful river.

On the way out, I stopped to have Ben take a picture of the creek like I did on our last trip.  Ben named this "Weak Creek" because it's never really flowing!

We decided to go sit by the lake until the pizza place opened.  We were the only ones there!

When we got to the pizza place, the line was already out the door so we decided to save pizza for tomorrow and go back to the cabin and grill burgers and watch football.

We watched the Cowboy game from our hot tub which is the best way to watch football ever!

This is the life!

We took a walk that night and saw a spectacular sunset.  It was beautiful even through the trees.

The next morning started pretty much the same as the one before!

Today Ben and I were doing a hike we had never done before, a 2 mile hike up to an overlook.  Then we were going to try again to get pizza, and hit the casino in Broken Bow.

We made it to the overlook which was just a peek through the trees.  It was still pretty though.

This was a fun hike and the last one inside the state park that we had not done yet.

We then went straight to Grateful Head Pizza so we would be there right when they opened.  Alot of people had the same idea!

We enjoyed our pizza out on the patio and then went to the Choctaw casino in Broken Bow and spent about an hour playing video poker.

We decided to head back to the lake and stop at a place we had passed by many times called the Broken Tiki which is a tiki bar that also does boat tours.  We decided to sign up for their 4:00 tour.  We have never actually been out on the lake in all of our trips so we decided it was time!

While waiting for the tour, we walked around the place and had a drink on the patio.

There was a path down to the lake from the bar.

For the tour, you get on the tiki bus which takes you down to the boat.

The boat leaves from our favorite part of the lake.

Any day on the lake is a great day!

I saw this tree -- the first hint of fall!

We had a great time on the boat tour!

After the tour, we got some ice cream and that night we grilled hot dogs and sat in the hot tub until bed.  The hot tub is so therapeutic and we were hardly sore after hiking for three days straight!

The next morning when we opened the bedroom door, we were greeted by a spectacular sunrise!

I sat by the fire and enjoyed my tea -- this was our last morning so it was a 2-cup morning!

We packed up to leave and I got the idea to go back to our favorite trail and just do the short part of the hike to the waterfall and back.  I thought this would be a fun way to end our trip.

Another great trip in the books!

We just can't get enough of beautiful Broken Bow.  I'm sure we'll be back soon!
