More Fall Hiking in Texas

Ann and I took advantage of this year's great fall weather to do some hiking in two of North Texas' nature preserves:  the Trinity River Audubon Center in Dallas and the Cedar Ridge Preserve in Duncanville.

The Trinity River Audubon Center is a 130-acre preserve that sits on a former illegal dumpsite.  It has been transformed to an area for birds, wildlife and is full of hiking trails.  There were several ponds and most of the trails were very easy, pleasant walks.  Ann and I walked pretty much every trail at the Center on our visit.  No dogs are allowed on the trails which was nice.

Cedar Ridge Preserve is a 603-acre preserve with nine miles of hiking trails.  These trails were ranked easy to moderate on All Trails, however, Ann and I felt they were more on the moderate end with lots of stairs and inclines.  We ended up walking almost 5 miles on our visit!

Ann was our photographer on this visit and took some really good pictures of the trails.  The highlights on these hikes were an overlook with a view of Joe Pool lake and a pretty pond at the end.

Both nature preserves are nice places to get some exercise and reconnect with nature but Ann and I both liked the Trinity River Audubon Center better due to less people and easier trails. We have a list of trails and preserves to visit next year and look forward to exploring more of the hiking North Texas has to offer.
