Journey to Alaska Day 5: Day at Sea

We woke up to a beautiful day at sea.

Around 8:45 am, we passed Pine Island.  A small pilot boat pulled up and retrieved some pilots off the ship.  It was a cool thing to watch.

Our sea day started with breakfast at Sabatini’s which is a specialty restaurant that serves breakfast complimentary to suite guests. The breakfast was good and I enjoyed my free mimosa.

After breakfast, we all went to the atrium as the captain was doing a Q&A session.

After that, Ben and I spent time in the thermal suite which we enjoyed.  After the thermal suite, Ben found his favorite drink of the cruise, the Frozen Grizzly Bear.

We spent the day relaxing, browsing in the gift shop, sitting on the balcony, etc.

We also went to afternoon tea in the dining room. I always enjoy afternoon tea on a cruise.

This was the night of the Captain’s Welcome and champagne waterfall.  Ben and I always seem to miss these events the first formal night and I was determined we would make it to this one.

Fran got there early to stake out a good spot of the waterfall.  When it was our turn to go up and get our picture taken, she asked if she could take a picture of us from the opposite side.  The guy holding the champagne bottle didn’t really get what she was doing I think!  But we tried.

Dinner was in the main dining room for the first formal night.  We took a glass of champagne and then headed over.  There was no wait for suite guests and we walked right in.
We all got the filet and I had the bananas foster for dessert.  Service was spotty and while I liked my meal ok, no one was that impressed so this would be our only night eating in the main dining room.

The waiter took pictures of us all dressed up for formal night.

This is my favorite picture of all four of us from the whole vacation!

After dinner, we took a few more pictures.

We went back to the room and ordered room service for the next morning and then I picked out what I would be wearing for our first port day.  Tomorrow we would wake up in Alaska!
