50th Birthday Cruise - Embarkation Day

So the day we had been waiting for for two years was finally here!  We met Nick and Kate around 10:30 a.m. to make our way to the cruise terminal.  Boarding a ship is pretty chaotic and we had to stand in line for awhile before things really started moving but because we were there at our assigned time, we breezed past the line and made our way through to check in.

Waiting to board!

We were on the ship by around 12:15 p.m. and made our way to the Lido deck to find some lunch.  Ben and I decided on Guy's Burgers.  Kate scored us a table and a waiter came by with a rum punch--the perfect drink to go with my burger!

We explored the pool deck and then made our way to the pool bar so that we could all get a cocktail to celebrate.

This was the main pool deck but we never had to spend any time here because the category of room we booked had a private pool area--thank goodness because this pool was always packed!

At the pool bar, I got a drink aptly named the Cruiser.  I might have had a few of these during the week!

Let the 50th Birthday Cruise begin!

After our drinks, it was time to go and see our cabin.  Since this was a special birthday, we booked a Havana Premium Vista Balcony cabin, which had a 75 sq ft wraparound balcony overlooking the back of the ship.  The cabin itself was nice and roomy also.  This room category also meant that we had access to the Havana, which is a private pool area only for people staying in Havana cabins.  It was a great place to be for a week!

I brought my 50th birthday decorations my sister had given me to decorate our cabin.

Kate took our Bon Voyage picture!  See you in a week Galveston!

Our first order of business was to check out the Havana area where we would be spending the majority of our time on sea days.  The Havana had a pool, two hot tubs and a bar and was exclusive to Havana guests until 7:00 p.m. every night.  We all really loved this area and we got to know some of our fellow cruisers and had a lot of fun.

This was where we set up every day.  In the shade looking out at the ocean, pretty nice!

We went back up to our balcony for sailaway and to watch the first sunset.

We ended the night with drinks and dinner in the main dining room.  We had nothing but relaxing on the agenda for the next two days!
