Friends Trip to Maui: Day 4 - Kapalua Beach

Today we would finally be going to the beach and we decided on Kapalua Bay since it has good snorkeling, calm water, and shade, which was good since I would just be sitting on the beach most of the time.

Morning sunrise.

My favorite palm tree--I must have 100 pictures of it!

We decided to go to a place we had not been before for breakfast, Duke's Beach House at the Honua Kai resort.  I wanted Ben H. to see the resort as I think it would be a good choice for his family if they decide to bring their kids to Maui in the future.  I was excited to see it too and happy to try a new breakfast place.

Ben got a breakfast burrito.

I got an omelet.

It was a pretty good breakfast--not as good as our favorite, the Sea House, but we enjoyed it.

Then it was time to get our snorkel gear and beach chairs and hit the beach.  Parking was already full so Nick was nice enough to let us out while he parked the car and we got set up at the beach.

My happy place!!

Once Nick got there, the boys got right out into the water.

I was perfectly happy to sit on the beach with my toes in the sand!

The boys came in for a bit before going back out to snorkel.

I swear I could sit on this beach forever and be perfectly happy!

We stayed at the beach until 2:00 and then went over to the Sea House for happy hour on the patio.

Just look at all the yummy food!

After the Sea House, we decided to go next door to Merriman's for happy hour at their famous Point Bar right off of Kapalua Bay.  It was a little rainy and windy though, so we sat on the side of the patio where we still had a great view of the bay but had a little shelter from the wind.

The famous Merriman's mai tai, yummy!

Ben and I and our matching mai tais!

Kapalua beach days truly are the best!

On the way back to the condo, Nick and Ben decided they needed Chinese food so we stopped at a takeout place near the condo called China Boat.  I thought this would probably be a bad idea but luckily, their food was at least edible.

Silly boys waiting for their food.

Tomorrow we would (hopefully) be seeing the sunrise upcountry!
