Friends Trip to Maui: Day 6 - Ka'anapali Beach

Today started like many Maui days, with a bagel and POG on the patio.  Nick cut up the pineapple we had bought and I added that to my breakfast and it was delicious.

We spent a leisurely morning relaxing on the patio.

It was a bright sunny day so we decided to drive to Ka'anapali and walk the paved beach path down the beach.  Ka'anapali is a the main resort area in west Maui made up of the 3-mile stretch of Ka'anapali beach which is lined with a paved beach path, shops, resorts and restaurants.

We were lucky to get a free parking spot at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel--score!  I wanted to stop at their Tiki Bar but it was already packed at 11:00.

We continued on and decided to stop at Hula Grill.  Hula Grill has their Barefoot Bar right on the beach where you can actually sit with your toes in the sand!

I got a Plantation Lemonade which was refreshing.

Nick got a mai-tai.

We spent the day walking the beach walk and going in and out of the resorts that line Ka'anapali Beach.

We had lunch at a restaurant called Monkeypod.  I got poke nachos.

We went next door and had yummy gelato at Ono Gelato.

Back at the condo, we had lava flows on the lanai.

We all took a nap and then changed to go to happy hour at Pineapple Grill in Kapalua.  No one really cared for their drinks but at least the setting was nice.

Ben and I shared some pork nachos.

Dinner was at a new place in Napili called Kitchen5315.  I got the macadamia nut crusted fish which was ok.

No one else really cared for this restaurant though so it was kind of a miss.

I was disappointed because it looked like we missed a great sunset but when we got back to the condo, we were able to catch the very end of it--very dramatic!

Tomorrow we planned to do some hiking in northwest Maui and have our fancy dinner at Merriman's!
