The next morning we were up at 4:30. Wow.
This would pretty much be the same drill all week—how I look forward to
the days when we can come for weeks and really get on island time!
This was Monday so I wanted to go to the
Farmer’s Market and then buy a few things for the week at the grocery
store. We were there right at 7:00 when
they opened and got banana bread, limes, kiwi, lillikoi cream cheese, apple
bananas and a Maui gold pineapple (soooo good!). All my favorite things for breakfast on Maui! I also got
an acai bowl for my breakfast, I had always wanted to try one. It was yummy.
Then we went over to the grocery store and got hot dogs, buns, mustard, pog, milk,
cereal, water, Maui onion chips, bagels, Coke and Red Bull. And that was it as far as groceries for
us.
We put everything away and then changed for the beach and
went to rent our snorkel gear. Our condo had chairs, a boogie board and an umbrella so we didn’t have
to rent anything else which was nice.
We
walked from the condo to a beach nearby called Kahekili Beach Park (but what the locals call Airport Beach) so Ben could snorkel. I decided it was too wavy for me so I enjoyed
the beach while he snorkeled. The ocean
pretty much has to be as calm as bath water for me to want to snorkel. Ben saw a big turtle with a little small baby
one which was a thrill for him. He sees
turtles so often when he snorkels, he just pretty much expects it!
Our day at the beach:
For lunch we decided to walk the beach path over to
Duke’s Beach House near our condo. We loved having a beach path
we could walk in both directions.
Along the way, we passed by a
vacant lot for sale and it can be yours for a
cool $11.5 million!
We stopped first at a place called Auntie’s Kitchen at the Westin next door to our condo for a
drink and I got something called a Maui Sunrise.
For lunch, we each got a lunch plate—I got
the fish of the day which was mahi mahi and Ben got the ribs and huli huli
chicken. It was all really delicious.
Back at the
condo, we went to Castaways at our condo for happy hour and the Cowboy MNF game and then went
down to the lawn behind the beach for sunset.
Then it was the hot tub before bed, our first full day in the
books!
