Today was my pick for the anniversary
trip—Maui Goat Yoga! Ben
was pretty excited for it too, more so for the goats than for the actual
yoga.
Around 7:00 am, Ben said we needed to “get goating” ha, ha,
to which I said, “Let’s goat!” We crack
ourselves up. Maui Goat Yoga is right by the famous Grandma’s
Coffee House so we went there for breakfast.
I got the banana and macadamia nut pancakes and a side of
Portuguese sausage. Ben had had cereal at the condo but helped me eat it and we pretty much
demolished it.
My new Facebook profile picture:
There were quite a few people at the goat yoga class and it
was an absolutely beautiful warm day upcountry and the view was great.
This chicken photobombed my picture!
As they were setting up, Ben made
friends with the resident chicken, Rocky.
That chicken was so cute and friendly.
When class started, he was outside the gate looking in longingly, he
didn’t want to be left out. Someone must
have seen him because they let him in too.
We were so lucky because there were two 2-week old goats in the class
and they were so adorable, and they loved Ben! He got all the goativity to himself for quite
awhile.
When I wasn’t taking pictures of Ben with baby goats,
I tried to concentrate on the actual yoga which is hard to do with baby goats on your back! This class was mostly about playing with goats with some yoga
thrown in for good measure.
After the class, we got to spend time playing with and feeding all the goats and taking pictures.
After goat yoga, we drove around seeing some sights I had on
my list to see. Upcountry is so beautiful and I definitely want to stay here on a future visit.
The Holy Ghost Mission is a Roman Catholic church from the late 1800s where they still hold services today.
We stopped at the popular Hali’maile General Store for lunch. I
got a cocktail called a Kaffir Lime Daiquiri which was so yummy, like a frozen
key lime pie in a glass.
For lunch I got
the fish tacos, also delicious, and Ben got a pork sandwich with fries. It was all good and I was happy to get to eat here.
Every other time we’ve been upcountry, we’ve never made it before they
close for lunch.
After lunch, we walked across the street to a place called Makai Glass which is full of very expensive glassworks but you can watch the glassblowing for free, very cool. Then we
drove to the town of Makawao and walked all up and down the main street going into the
different shops.
On TV the night before,
we had watched a food show that had the chef from a Maui restaurant called Da Kitchen making a poke
bowl and Ben really wanted to try it so we drove Da Kitchen near the airport since it was on our way. It was delicious and we gobbled
the entire thing right there in the parking lot. We ate it so fast, I didn't even get a picture of it!
We made our way back to the condo and cleaned up to go to
Castaway at 4:00 to hear some live music and to watch the sunset. We watched the sunset from the beach this
time and then took a walk down the beach before going back to the room for a
dinner of the last of the Maui onion chips and donuts before bed.
For once I didn't bring my phone and just watched the sunset without taking a single picture!
